About the Event
Dr. Carpineti is an influencer, convenor and science communicator deeply embedded in the LGBTQ STEM conversation in the UK. He is both a journalist at IFLScience as well as a podcast host and blogger at The Astroholic, which he runs with his husband. Alfredo also founded & chairs the charitable trust Pride in STEM and was recently named one of the 101 LGBTQ+ Trailblazers by Attitude Magazine!
In this session, Alfredo will chat about the history of Pride in STEM and the social media phenomenon that is LGBTQ STEM Day, as well as his current work focusing on solutions to lack of diversity in STEM in the UK (and elsewhere).
This includes a recently submitted submission in partnership with the British Science Association, reviewing the barriers that would empower informed initiatives to improve diversity in STEM, both in academia and industry.
After a Q&A, we will open up the discussion for personal introductions and discussion around challenges and opportunities to diverse workforces in the experience of those gathered, and see where the conversation takes us!
The conversation will be moderated by team members of OUTbio UK present.
